On 5th September 2024, the European Research Council (ERC) announced the list of winning European researchers for the Starting Grants 2024 call. ²ÝÁñÂÛ̳ is proud to have some of the winners among its scientific teams.
ERC Starting Grants are awarded for five years to a selected group of scientists (between two and seven years after receiving their thesis) to establish a research team around an original theme, thereby supporting research projects on ambitious and risky topics.
For this 2024 edition, 49 French projects have been selected. Among them :
- Panagiotis ANDRIANESIS for his project, , carried out within the Energy and Processes Department of Mines Paris - PSL and the association for the Research and Development of Industrial Methods and Processes - Armines.
- for her project Advanced analysis of multiparametric volumetric ultrafast ultrasound: a novel approach for non-invasive breast cancer diagnosis conducted within the Physics for Medicine laboratory (Inserm, ESPCI paris - PSL, CNRS).
- Justin CARPENTIER for his project The Artificial Motion Factory, carried out within the Computer Science Department at ENS - PSL
- , for her Infrared Fiber Analysis of battery electrolyte dynamic chemistry project, carried out within the Solid State and Energy Chemistry Laboratory at Collège de France.
- Arthur MARGUERITE for his project at the Materials Physics and Studies Laboratory at ESPCI Paris - PSL
- Adrien TAYLOR for his project with the Sierra Team (Inria)
- Morgane THION, for her project , conducted within the Centre Interdisciplinaire de Recherche Biologie (CIRB) at Collège de France.
These projects highlight the variety of research in France. The fields covered range from fundamental sciences to the most practical applications, including major societal issues such as the energy transition, health and artificial intelligence.
We offer our warmest congratulations to the winners and wish them every success as they pursue their projects.

Founded in 2007, the is part of the European Framework Program for Research and Innovation (Horizon 2020). Each year, the committee awards individual funding for a period of 5 years to scientists from all over the world. The ERC funds original exploratory research projects that bring scientific, technical and societal discoveries in all disciplines.
There are five ERC grants:
- Starting Grant: for young researchers - 2 to 7 years after the dissertation was defended (up to 2 million euros)
- Consolidator Grant: for researchers - 7 to 12 years after the dissertation was defended (up to 2.75 million euros)
- Advanced Grant: for senior researchers (up to €3.5 million)
- Synergy Grant: for a group of 2 to 4 researchers (up to 10 million euros over 6 years)
- Proof of Concept: for the winners, to support the technology transfer of the results obtained within the framework of an ERC grant
